Born to celebrate the first forty years of sporting activity of the Modena car manufacturer, the "F40" was premiered to the press at the civic center of Maranello, on July 21, 1987, by Enzo Ferrari, Leonardo Fioravanti and Nicola Materazzi. In the following month of September it was exposed to the public during the Frankfurt motor show.Among other special features, the car has been the first road car in Ferrari history to be built with various composite materials such as kevlar for the frame, Carbon fiber, glass fibers for the body, aeronautical resins for tanks and Plexiglas for the side windows.
